Stop Growing In So Many Areas

It can be really tempting to try and grow in more than one area at the same time.

It’s almost always a bad idea.

We’re just not able to focus on multiple things at once, not well. Sure you might do a passable job at several different things but you won’t be able to give any of them the attention that they deserve.

We only have a certain amount of energy, and if we try to split it evenly between four or five things we just don't do as good at any of them.

You may want to be more disciplined around food, and you want to lose weight. It could be very tempting to say that you’re going to stop eating out, cut out soda or sugary drinks, not eat dessert or sweets, add vegetables to all three meals, and eat fruit every day.

They're all good things to want to do and will all help you to be more healthy.

I can promise you that if you try to change all of those things at once you’re giving yourself no chance of actually succeeding at any of them.

It’s too much to focus on.

Pick one thing. Cut out soda and sugary drinks. Do that for a month, two months, three. Then when it has become a habit move on to the next thing. Stop eating out (that’ll also save your bank account) except for special occasions. So on and so forth.

It’s the little things that may seem insignificant that add up to the big things that people notice. People won’t notice that you stopped eating dessert every night, but they will notice when you drop thirty pounds.

Start with one small thing at a time and you’ll see big changes.
